Bio

Andy Waterman is a true renaissance man—a successful entrepreneur with a career traversing the worlds of business, entertainment, and education—a man who can, and has, delivered innovation and multimillions-of-dollars in profit for over twenty years. Andy is known for combining a futurist's vision with talent, drive, and industry expertise to deliver seemingly impossible results in entrepreneurial or corporate environments, in multiple industries and venues, especially in the areas of entertainment and edutainment.

"I am the "The Master Mixer," expertly blending business, entertainment, the arts, and education to create innovative new products and the next level of success—often in untapped or unimagined areas."

- Andy Waterman

From his early days as a music-obsessed student and educator; to a stint in the Chicago jingle business; to years of work as a top professional in the music, sound, film, and television "studio world;" (building Andy Waterman productions and ENTEK Centers, Inc.) through his present success as a leading "Edutainment" producer with Hal Leonard and McGraw-Hill, Andy has enjoyed a rich and varied career.

Andy's clients and projects in music, television, and the arts have included such work for Henry Mancini (Victor Victoria), David Byrne (The Forest), television shows such as "Touched by an Angel" and "The Highlander," as well as Universal Studios Tour and Disney World (soundtrack producer for major theme park attractions).

As a business development, product marketing, management, and technology specialist, Andy has conceptualized, launched, and managed high-quality entertainment and edutainment products, services, technologies, and brand / product extensions. In addition, although fully immersed in the Digital Revolution, he has an ongoing respect for the legacy technology that preceded it. There's a place for both — and he knows where that is. In an aggressively competitive industry, he has achieved commercial success and created numerous sustainable revenue streams.

Accomplished in "leadership under fire" crisis management, Andy has led multiple businesses through startup, growth, crisis, M&A, and culture change while exceeding objectives for revenue, operational performance, profitability, and shareholder value. Andy has said, "Nothing is more energizing to me than to be part of an exciting business plan and see raw thinking come to life." His successes in an enormous array of business activities support that assertion.

An accomplished salesman, Andy uses thorough planning rather than "kismet" to deliver mega results. He has closed deals with numerous "marquee players"—Fortune 500 companies and national firms. Andy likes to say, "A good business plan beats acquired sales panache any day."

As a creative director, producer, and experienced expert in creative direction, media production, postproduction, soundtrack and recording direction, script development and casting, Andy has worked with many of the top talents in the industry. He has won globally recognized awards for artistry and craft, with credits that include work on thousands of hours of internationally broadcast television soundtracks, over 100 feature films, thousands of national and regional television and radio commercials, over 500 music albums, and 20 years as recording producer for the largest catalogue of educational children's music in the world.

Andy Waterman has been a team member and partner to key Hollywood executives, generating hundreds-of-millions-of-dollars for his clients. A key strength is that of "talent scout." He is adept at finding and mentoring talented people, transforming them into "money makers." He is asked to speak on his methods for "managing new people to the top," as he has done so many times.

Throughout his twenty-year tenure in business, Andy has built a full Rolodex of clients, contacts, and long-term industry relationships, including those of powerful C-level executives in Fortune and world-class enterprises—McDonalds; Boeing; Home Depot; Sea World; Six Flags; Warner Bros; McGraw-Hill; Princess, Carnival, and Crystal Cruises; Harmon International; Disney; Universal Studios; CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, and HBO, as well as some of the largest advertising agencies in the world.

Profiled frequently in industry magazines including Variety, Billboard, Hollywood Reporter, Mix Magazine, Post Magazine, and the website Allmusic.com, Andy has a cross-industry reputation for thought leadership, innovation, trend awareness, timing, wit, and a realistic, yet non-cynical attitude.

Andy Waterman resides in Culver City, California with his fiancee Lauren Price and a personal library of over 500 books on entrepreneurship and business innovation. He is an active member of The CEO Club, TEC International, and the YMCA program Youth and Government.
